Second and Third Trimester Recap

This one is loooong overdue!! I will definitely do a postpartum post as well, but I will probably skip a labor & delivery post because that was very intimate and a highly personal time – plus, the outcome was a healthy mom and health baby, which is all that matters. Ok, lets get into it, shall we?

Second trimester…. I took you for granted. If you are currently pregnant, just know… the second trimester is the best trimester. The nausea and extreme fatigue go away (for most peeps.. Myself included), you feel your baby kick for the first time, you actually start showing a cute little bump (and don’t look like you ate a dozen donuts). So many good things. Looking back, that’s how I thought the remainder of my pregnancy would go. Nope. This is the time to get everything done that needs to be done (i.e. the nursery & prepping for baby’s arrival). You have so much more energy and your body doesn’t ache just yet. I literally don’t think I have a negative thing to say about the second trimester. Third trimester though……

…….is rough. Dare I say it is more difficult than the first? The fatigue you feel in the third trimester is different than the first – this fatigue is because you just aren’t sleeping. You either have to get up to pee every hour or your body is SO uncomfortable in every sleeping position (I am a belly sleeper…… so this was a huge struggle). Your belly also gets so massive (duh). I remember thinking my belly was big at 20 weeks (it wasn’t) and how I couldn’t imagine it getting any bigger (it did). All of that extra weight puts so much strain on your joints and makes everything hurt. Plus it’s harder to breathe from the extra weight + baby pushing on your lungs #goodtimes. The end is probably the most difficult… you are just waiting to meet your baby and have no idea when they will be making their arrival. You drive yourself crazy wondering if today is going to be the day. My advice, enjoy your alone time, go on a date, try and sleep (hard tho, I know). Baby will come when they’re ready to and once they do come, sleep, alone time and date nights disappear for the foreseeable future. Right now, my only alone time is when I shower lol. If you are in your third trimester right now, girl…. I feel you. But you’re at the end and just remember you’re almost there with your cute little baby.

Are you currently pregnant? If so, when are you due??

Until next time,

Lauryn xo
