Christmas Morning Survival Basket

I am loving this holiday season so much. It has been extra magical this year, thanks to early decorating and two little girls who are obsessed with Christmas. Christmas comes and goes sooo fast every year, but I really made an effort to do all the things this year – we literally decorated our place the day after Halloween lol. Christmas morning also flies by and it’s so sad, because of all the hard work my husband and I put into making it so special. This year, we’re slowing down.. we’re going to let the girls open their gifts at their own speed (even if that means going extra slow and playing with every gift as soon as they open it). I want the kids to remember how fun Christmas morning was, not how stressed out mommy and daddy were. So we’re taking it slow. And we’re also preparing ourselves.

This year, I am putting together a ‘Christmas Morning Survival Basket’. I saw someone on tiktok post about this and thought it was genius. I don’t remember what they put in theirs, or even what the users handle was, but everything I am listing are things that we have been jumping up to grab for the past few years while gifts are being opened.

Let’s get started, shall we?

First, get yourself a small basket. You definitely have something around your house that you can use, so don’t feel the need to go buy one.

Next, batteries. I am putting a sleeve of both AA and AAA. I am not searching for batteries at 6:30 in the morning. Nope. Along with batteries is a screw driver. I have a small tech one that I am adding, as well as a little bit of a larger one. Make sure you include both Phillips-head and flat-head screwdrivers.

I’m going to throw two garbage bags in so we can keep the wrapping paper at bay. Scissors are also going into my basket.

I am going to put the girls water bottles and some cheerios in the basket, although I am nearly positive they will not touch either until gifts are done lol.

I am not adding a lot to the basket, because I just don’t think it’s necessary. I am just adding the things I know we will need to get the girls going with their presents, without having to jump up and look for things. If I add random, useless things, it will take away from the point of the basket – to be able to sit on the couch with my husband, sip our delicious coffee and watch the kids have a magical morning. To prioritize what should go in your own basket, think of previous Christmases and what you were getting up to grab. Also, consider the gifts you are giving and what may be needed for them. If this is your first Christmas with littles, replicate what I am using and you can expand/change it up next season.

Am I missing anything important that I should add? What are you adding to yours? Leave it in the comments!

Until next time,

Lauryn xo
