Hyaluronic Acid Serum DUPE!

Hi everyone and welcome back to the blog!

This week, I am sharing an incredible dupe to a pricey serum I shared a few months ago, the HA Intensifier by SkinCeuticals. Hyaluronic acid does wonders for so many people. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, so it will help your skin retain moisture, rehydrating your skin and giving you a beautiful, healthy glow. Overall, you’re skin just looks better when you incorporate hyaluronic acid into your skin care lineup.

I really loved this product because it added a lot of hydration to my skin, noticeably improved my fine lines and overall I just had a lot more plumpness to my face. My skin has had a youthful glow and looked healthy since incorporating a strong hyaluronic acid back into my routine and I’m loving it. The price tag on this product is $110. $110 isn’t necessarily too expensive if the product will last for months and months (like the SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic serum), but this product runs out within a month because you are applying it both morning and night. After two months of using it, I wanted to find a cheaper but still excellent quality serum.

This is when I found La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum. The ingredients are very similar, with La Roche-Posay (LRP) actually having 14 less ingredients that the SkinCeuticals (SC). Both serums are very thick – the LRP is clear, whereas SC is an amber color. The most noticeable difference to me is the scent – LRP has a strong perfume smell, while the SC has a mild, sweet smell. I thought I would hate the LRP when I first started using it because I expected a lot of irritation from the fragrance, but my skin actually did great with this. I looked at the ingredients for SC and it does contain fragrances as well, so I guess they’re just more subtle – unfortunately, with either product you’ll be getting fragrances, alcohols and silicones.

The cost is obviously another huge difference. SC retails at $110, while LRP retails at $39.99. The LRP is much more economical considering this would be a monthly investment. I also noticed the SC to be much stickier than the LRP. In terms of application, I found both products to feel really similar once on the skin. I think the SC dries faster than the LRP, which I prefer because I usually am waiting to apply sunscreen right after in the morning, but isn’t a deal breaker with the price difference.

My skin has continued to look plump and hydrated with less noticeable fine lines since beginning my hyaluronic acid journey. So, switching to LRP has not impacted my results.  All in all, I can recommend either product because I think they are both great. For the time being, I will stick with La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum though because you can’t beat that price point.  Aside from price point, none of the other comparisons I made were game changers for me. The products are so similar and I think the La Roche-Posay is an amazing dupe for the SkinCeuticals.

Until next time,
