In New York, it is like day 625 of quarantine. So many people are required to work from home. I am considered “essential”, so I am predominantly going into work. Occasionally, I work from home, but not too often. My husband on the other hand, has been home for the past 8ish weeks.
Here are some quick tips and tricks I have learned from both my husband and my little time spent WFH.
get ready for work
I’m not saying get dressed for work, do your hair & makeup like you may normally do. What I’m saying is – wash your face, brush your teeth, change out of your PJs into something comfy, have your coffee. It’ll make you feel a little more normal, rather than just jumping into work in what you wore to bed. Give it a try. I honestly throw an olaplex #3 hair mask in while I am WFH (linked on my liketoknowit – http://www.liketoknow.it/laurmonds). Why not have good hair??
have your own space
Try not to just sit in bed and work. Find a space that you can set up whatever you need so you can work comfortably. My husband and I live in a small one bedroom apartment currently – we don’t have a desk set up anywhere. We have been working in our living room where there is a coffee table we share. If one of us has a call, we move into the bedroom. This tip can prove challenging if you are limited on space like we are, but do the best you can.
develop a schedule or plan for the day
It is so easy to get distracted while WFH. You have the TV, those dishes you forgot to clean…reorganize your whole closet……… but you are on work time. Make a legit schedule that you can follow throughout the day so you can be as productive as possible. The day will fly by and truthfully.. you are getting paid to work, so that’s what you should be doing 🙂
How are you managing working from home? Do you have any tips that I didn’t include? Drop them in a comment below!
Until next time,
